If anyone has visted this island kindly give your opinions as to the pro & cons of going there. Rick does not cover it. I have visited Capri and amalfi coast already and am looking for a new italian destinations not covered in Ricks guidebooks.
We recently saw the movie "Avanti" and it was such a quintessential movie about Italian life that I am definitely going there next time!
I am sure it is a nice place to visit and does not seem to be as touristy as Capri has become.
The following web site from Frommers might help.

I was studying abroad in Italy 2003 an went to Ischia for the weekend. It was beautiful. We spent a day at a hot springs/spa resort which was to die for. Very cute area with great restaurants.
I spent 3 nights in Ischia in 2004. It was September. Weather was perfect. I spent my time at 2 thermal spas, Poseidon Gardens and Negombo, both on the coast. Ischia was inexpensive at that time. It was pretty and geen. Ilove to swim, and there are lots of places. Most hotels have thermal pools or a complex of them. It was very relaxed at that time of year.
