My wife and I will be in Italy in May. Will spend 3 nights in Rome; 4 nights in Sorrento. We have two more days/nights to think about and then will spend a last night in Rome. Recently have seen some mention of Ischia and wondering if that might be a fun destination for two nights before returning to Rome. Is there a ferry from Sorrento to Ischia. What town might anyone suggest I should stay in. What are primary things to see/do in Ischia.

yes there is a ferry from Sorrento to Ischia. Ischia is famous for its spas. Also don't miss nearby Procida. Another island between Ischia and Naples. Really pretty. The film "Il Postino" (the Postman) was filmed there.
If you stay in Ischia you can stay in Ischia/Ischia Porto or also Casamicciola Terme. In Procida you would stay in Procida. Take a look at Google Images and Google Street view and see what you might like.
