Is this a crazy idea? We will be staying in Naples, but I’ve wanted to go to the thermal baths for years. I know the ferry is about 2 hours each way. Can anyone recommend a nice day use Ischia thermal spa that is reachable from the Ischia port by oublic transportation? Thank you.

Negombo and Poseidon are the 2 main spas to my knowledge, with Negombo being more accessible by the main ferry to Porto. There's a bus that goes there from the dock in Porto. Renting a scooter could be a fun way to get there too.
If you wanted to go to Poseidon, you could take the ferry to Forio port and then bus/cab/scooter to the spa from there.

We will do a day trip from Naples to Nogumbo in late June. You can get back and forth quicker than 2 hours each way if you use a fast ferry from Napoli Beverello to Ischia Porto. That trip is just 50 minutes. The 2-hour trip you mention is from Napoli Porta di Massa to Ischia Porto.
