We (me, hubbie, teenage son) have three days in our 2-week Italian tour to spend in the Naples/Sorrento/Amalfi areas. Pompeii and Vesuvius are high on our list.
We're thinking to stay on Ischia in order to enjoy some beach time as well. We'd be grateful for suggestions on hotels, beaches, transportation, anything else relevant in that part of the country. We'll be there late August.

Rick's Italy book doesn't cover Ischia and I don't know which author might cover it well. Lonely Planet does mention it, and they have a downloadable chapter for $3.50, if you don't have or want the whole book.
