Hello! My husband and I are travelling to Italy at the beginning of July and visiting Venice, Florence, Orvieto, Ischia and Rome. We have read Rick's Italy, Rome, Florence and Venice books! We would love some advice on the following questions! 1: If anyone has advice about where to eat, play, etc. in Ischia. (We have already booked a hotel outside of Forio) 2: We plan to leave Ischia, visit Pompeii and then continue to Rome all in one day. We know that will be a very busy day, but any advice about how to make this easier would be appreciated. Also, if we are tired and decide to stop for the night somewhere before Rome, where would you recommend? I'd rather not stay in Naples. We will be using trains for all of our transportation. THANKS!

There is a train station about 4 long blocks from the entrance of Pompeii. Get up early that day, you can do it all. Just know: Pompeii is extremely interesting. Rent the audio device and walk at your own pace. Some one advised me that I should carve out a couple of hours for Pompeii. That was wrong...we could have stayed there for hours because it is so amazing.
