We would like to travel to the islands in Southern Italy. We are interested in Ishcia. Any other leads or places to research? We would also like to see Pompei
Ischia has great beaches and reportedly, great food as well. Don't tell anyone, but I think Procida is a hidden gem, as well. Suggest you get a copy of Lonely Planet's guidebook, Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast for more information.
Procida is a hidden gem! Don't look for a ton of activities although in beach season I hear it gets very crowded. We spent 2 nights and it was a nice break for us from the usual mad-dash.
Thank you. Is there a time of year that is better?
Karen,
All of the islands will be very crowded in summer and maybe not so pleasant in winter. Shoulder season: April/May or Sept/Oct are best.
We were in Sorrento 4 nights last fall from Oct. 19 and had really wanted to go to Ischia just for a day.
I emailed someone from one of the Ischia links below prior to leaving home and was told there are no connections from Sorrento to Ischia in Oct. Guess they already had started their winter schedule. We stayed in Naples the night before our early a.m. flight and could have visited Ischia from here easily but decided to just sightsee in Naples. See the links below for more info on Ischia.
