I recently watched The Talented Mr. Ripley and found that one can stay at the castle in the background during the opening scenes etc. It looks amazing and I'm looking for a unique and relaxing couple of days before starting on a 5 week Europe trip kicking off in Rome. Wondering if I should add another city on the mainland, want to save some of the major southern sights to see with my daughter, and since I can't find much info on Ischia in RS books, is it a worthwhile destination for 2 nights? Thanks for your input!

I spent a day in Ischia a few years ago, it was laid back and small enough to get around easily. Since you are looking for a relaxing start to your trip, I think it would meet your expectations.

Definitely worth a relaxing 2-night stay. If you have specific questions, go to the tripadvisor Italy board and post them - there is a regular contributor to the board who lives on Ischia and can answer your questions.
