Is this "POG hike, Positano sightseeing, ferry to Sorrento" plan realistic?

Thanks in advance for fact-checking this day's itinerary.

In summary, my husband, teen sons, and I want to hike the path of the gods in the morning. After the hike, the grandparents will meet us in Nocelle for lunch (coming from Sorrento), then we will tour Positano, and head back to Sorrento via ferry.

Does this sound correct? Would you change anything?

7:45 AM Take car service from Sorrento to Bomerano trail-head outside of Agerola

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Hike the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods)

11:30 AM Grandparents leave Sorrento for Nocelle via car service

12:15 PM Everyone meets for lunch in Nocelle at Santa Croce

1:50 PM Take MobilityAmalfiCoast bus to Positano for sightseeing - buy tickets at "tabacchi" shop, validate ticket upon boarding

2:15 PM Sightsee in Positano

5:00 PM Take highspeed ferry from Positano to Sorrento - 40 mins - €16 - (need a bad weather plan)

Thanks!

As written it seems easily done however there are some factors to consider.
Positano sightseeing revolves around walking steep curvey stone steps. And if u need to catch a bus to return to sorrento u would need to walk all the way up again in time for the bus that stops on the roadway if it has space. They will not stop if they are full and from my experience they are usually full in late afternoon espec during peAk season.

Therefore I suggest u plan to leave much earlier than your 5pm schedule and have the bus schedules in hand and the ferry schedule in hand. Personally Ii think u are squeezing too much in. I love the area and it is to be enjoyed in a relax way.

Thank you for pointing out that I need to factor in more time in Positano. I am leaning toward taking the Sorrento City Sightseeing Coach back to Sorrento instead of the ferry. If we return via bus, we could stay in Positano longer (the last ferry leaves at 5 but the last bus leaves at 8). Also, I believe you are guaranteed a seat on the Sorrento City Sightseeing Coach but I need to read up more on it. Per your suggestion though, we'll slow things down in Positano and be mindful that it may take us awhile to get to the bus station or ferry dock.

Thanks for the reality check!

Expecting to sync all this up like clockwork is just not realistic, especially not in this region. Traffic is an unpredictable beast that could severely disrail any part of this plan. There’s also not an exceptional reason to try and meet up in Nocelle. It would be much simpler for your grandparents to meet you in Positano. They’ll probably end up waiting for you and they can at least enjoy Positano in the meantime.

I kinda hate to throw this in here, but I have to. You can think about whether you really want to hike Path of the Gods. It sounds like you’re working super hard to squeeze this in. It’s a big part of the day, and it’s not as easy as it sounds. At the end of June it will be HOT, and likely wear you out. Do you have a lot of time in the region? If so maybe it makes more sense, but with limited time I could think of a dozen other things to see and do that are just as spectacular. There’s not an inch of the coast that doesn’t offer stellar views. In fact, the view from the ferry is probably best of all. I get it, it sounds amazing and your hearts are set on it. I mean, that name! I did the same thing, and regretted it badly. I wish I could go back in time and do something else that day. Just... food for thought.

The views from the Path of Gods are beautiful. The hike is easy for those with experience. You will not be alone but it is not like taking the bus on the coastal road. Waiting for public transportation does add to the experience. The bus from Nocelle does stop above Positano for a transfer to SITA to Amalfi. Then, it stops mid Positano. This area is still quite a stair drop to the sea. My suggestion is to obtain private transportation for the family hiking to and from. The grandparents can ferry and explore Positano at their liking. Meet up in Positano.
