Is this a good plan for our stay in Varenna?

We arrive in Varenna on a Tuesday afternoon in late August. We'll enjoy the waterfront area and perhaps visit the gardens at Villa Monastero. I've booked a one hour Boat Cruise from 18:00-19:00 that afternoon with TaxiBoat Varenna, followed by dinner at Il Cavatappi.

Unfortunately our full day in Varenna is on a Wednesday and Villa del Balbienello will be closed. The Ferry Schedule has been updated to include Summer 2016 information and this special route: Summer 2016: VARENNA - VILLA CARLOTTA - BELLAGIO - VARENNA 13.80 adult, 11.10 senior sounds like a good plan for us. Any opinions on Villa Carlotta and on this route?

Depart Varenna at 09:23
Arrive at Tremezzina's Villa Carlotta at 9:56 (we pay our own entry to the Villa & Gardens - 9 Euro each)

Depart Villa Carlotta at 12:25

Arrive at Bellagio at 12:45 (we'll have lunch at 13:00 at La Fontana Bellagio, and then enjoy a walk around the area)

Depart Bellagio at 15:45, Arrive back in Varenna at 15:58

A return to our B&B for a rest if necessary. Dinner reservation at Al Prato that evening.

Does this sound like a good plan to appreciate the area in our short time there?

I think that sounds pretty reasonable, although you may want to lengthen your time traveling around on the full day. We were there two weeks ago, and enjoyed Villa Carlotta. The gardens are quite large, and the house has an interesting array of artwork. The views from that side of the lake are lovely, as well. One of the best things to do though is to enjoy the views from the ferries.

We went to Bellagio early on the previous day, in the rain, so not to many tourists to contend with and it was nice to see it more as a small village.
PS I believe the senior discounts are only for EU citizens.
