I have decided on 3 nights in Venice, 4 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Rome with my three kids ages 11,9 and 5. Do you think this is enough time in each city. Also are there day trips from Florence that kids enjoy?
I would do 3 Florence and 4 Rome. I think the kids would enjoy Rome more than Florence. Do you day tripping out of Rome because of more options.
Having been to Italy several times with kids, I would agree with Frank. Spend the 4 nights in Rome. The kids will like the Trevi Fountain-- esp at night and Piazza Navona. When are you traveling? If it is in the heat of summer, would you consider instead of Florence, going to an agriturismo with a pool and going into Florence for the day. We have taken 7 trips and ALWAYS plan a few days in the country for a break for the kids from the city touring. It is what the kids remember the most.
Thank you. We are staying at the Exedra in Rome and it has a pool as well as our hotel in Venice. We wanted to stay at the Grand Minerva in Florence but was concerned with the location near the train station. That hotel has a pool. Can we stay in a villa for just a few nights because we really don't have an extra week to spare. Can you recommend a place. Thanks again.
Research where the local playgrounds are. There's a great one tucked away near the train station in Venice - perfectly safe neighborhood.
