I have read that some cities such as Naples & Sorrento have open top double decker buses that you can ride within each city but I'm wondering if there's an open top bus that goes along the Amalfi Coast. I did a Google search & I'm not coming up with much but I thought I'd open the question up to the wise folks on this forum. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
As far as I can remember, there are no open top buses along the Amalfi Coast. Perhaps in Naples as in other large cities, but I have never seen them on the coast road. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tsv7rMEJx3M]
I've never seen one either. It's a pretty long hike to be out in the wind, grit, rain, etc. There might also be a center of gravity issue :).
No open top bus but you could consider the ferry where part is open.
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll take the SITA bus from Sorrento down the coast & a ferry on the return trip to Sorrento. My logic behind wanting an open top bus is to take pictures during the ride. Does anyone know if the windows on the SITA bus open? I'm guessing probably not.
If you buy a 24 hour bus ticket (Unico Costiera ....http://www.unicocampania.it/index.php?lang=en¢er=inside&colonna=turisti&action=costiera&banner=costiera)...... which you will need for the AC ride, you will be entitled to a free one way trip on the open top bus between Amalfi and Ravello. Do the other journey on the normal bus, using your 24 hour ticket. ............ http://www.city-sightseeing.com/index.phtml?command=mp&id=39 ........... You need to check dates as it is a seasonal service. PS - as you will see there is also an open top service that goes from Amalfi to Maiori further along the Coast.
