Is there an (iOS) app to get train timetable info and buy tickets for around the Puglia region?

I'm going to be travelling to from Bari and Matera, Ostuni, Lecce etc. and have been trying to find some timetables online without much success.

However I'd rather use an iPhone app that enabled me to look at the train times and also purchase an eTicket.

Does anybody know if such an app exists, or then a good site for getting train timetable info?

TIA

The official Trenitalia app is available on both Android and iOS. You'll need data service to use it since it needs data access to display Regionale tickets (unlike Trenitalia trips with reserved seats, Regionale tickets can't be saved to a wallet).

To look up times just select the day of interest and you can see the train times & prices, as well as if they're direct or have connections. When using Regionale tickets you purchase the ticket with the app, then need to go to your purchases and check-in to your train (on the day of travel) in order to validate the ticket.

Check out the Trenit! App. We used it to track trains all around Italy. We brought tickets through the official apps or at the station.

You will find the schedules and tickets for trains between the towns and cities in Puglia on Trenitalia, either the website or the app.

Matera is not in Puglia and is served from Bari by by bus and a private train, Ferrovia Apulio Lucane:

You might look up reviews of this train company before you decide on that. Or take a bus—-Trainline will sell you the bus tickets. Or hire a private driver from someplace in Puglia.

Or you can reach Matera from Naples by Trenitalia train plus Freccelink bus (at Salerno).

Thank you for all the replies.

@Lola I couldn't really find much review about Ferrovia Apulio Lucane, are you implying they don't have too good a reputation?

There are several private train lines in Puglia, so no single app will serve. My husband and I used the Ferrovie Appulo Lucane trains with no problems. Some years ago, that company also had buses from Bari to Matera, for instance, though bus information is often even harder to come by than that for trains. The other train lines are Ferrovia Bari-Nord and Ferrovie del Sud-Est (which also has buses to Ostuni). Depending on your preferred destinations, you may need any one of these, in addition to Trenitalia.
