We are traveling by train from Rome to La Spezia and would like to rent a car straight away. Our hotel is not close to much and is too far to walk. Any rental car suggestions for right off the train?

You could always take a taxi from the RR station to your hotel and pick up the car the following day from a car rental location in town.

Or maybe a taxi to the rental car place? Are taxi's readily available at the train station?

If you're going to the Cinque Terre a car is a liability. Very few places have parking You switch trains in La Spezia for the trains into the villages.

You can walk to Avis/Budget in 15 minutes from the La Spezia train station. Mind the hours - they are closed for lunch and weekends. All the possibilities are here: http://www.apathtolunch.com/2015/11/where-to-rent-car-from-cinque-terre-la.html

We are staying at Albergo Serena hotel. The website for the hotel says that you need transportation since it's on a hill. Everything is about a 10 min drive from it. I figured a rental car would be best since we will need transport to the hotel from the train, from the hotel to the train to get to Cinque Terre and then to the ferry.
Would it be better to call a taxi for the two days we will be there? Are there good parking options for the ferry in Lerici and the train station to get to Cinque Terre?
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

We just ended up booking a different hotel that is 2 min walking distance to the La Sepia train. The other hotel seemed too confusing and far away! Thanks for the help on that everyone!
