Is there a Paris travel card?

We are heading for Paris and Rome, can someone advise us how to get around those two cities. We are at least staying 3 days each for each city. In London, we used the London pass. Thank you. I think I checked the Rome travel pass and we are thinking of purchasing the pass. Thanks.

Most travelers in Paris use a combination of the Metro (subway) and walking. They say you're never more than a 10 minute walk from a Metro station.
The most economical way to use the Metro is to buy what's called a carnet (car-nay) of tickets, which is 10 tickets, which can be bought from a person or machine the first time you go into a Metro station.

Use the 3 day Roma Pass in Rome. Easy to buy & use. In Paris, easiest to just buy a carnet of 10 tickets & get more as needed. For a longer stay, you can buy a Navigo Decouvete (sp?) pass, which is good for unlimited Metro & bus rides but starts on Monday and goes through Sunday night at midnight. For only 3 days, just buy the carnets. Have fun!

Yes! It is called the Passe Musee and can be purchased for 3 or 5 days, with or without public transportation included. Anything between the Louvre and the Tour Eiffel is an easy walk. This card is definitely worth while if you like to visit art galleries and museums. Check it out on line and decide if you will make sufficient use of it before buying.

Seconding Kent's suggestion of buying carnets of individual tickets versus using a pass in Paris: it's a MUCH more economical option for most tourists.

There are two passes most commonly used in Paris: the Paris Museum Pass, and the Paris Pass.
The Paris Museum Pass does not include transport. The Paris Pass includes a Visite travelcard for metro, buses, etc. plus some other stuff. Neither of them come in 3-day values.

The Paris Pass is a very good deal if you want to see enough of the attractions it covers, and have time to see enough of them to make it pay off. It comes in 2, 4 and 6-day values, and must be used on consecutive days. We've used this pass (the 6-day version) and more than broke even on the price.

The Paris Pass also comes in 2,4 and 6-day increments/used on consecutive days, and is a lot more expensive than the Paris Pass. Having done the math on this one many, many times for other tourists, I've never been able to find a way to come close to breaking even on this pass: it's an extraordinary amount, IMHO, for the transport piece that is so much less expensively done with booklets (carnets) of 10 tickets for only 14.10 euro. Heck, you can buy a few of those carnets and still come in under the price of the Paris Pass.

ajzone, I've never heard anything called a "Passe Musee", or any Paris city pass at all which is available in 3 or 5-day values.

There is no pass for Paris that combines travel and museums; none. The so called 'Paris Pass' is not a pass if by that you mean a single card that does many things. It is a marketing scheme whereby the already ludicrously overpriced Paris Visite is thrown into an envelope with an ordinary Museum Pass and some coupons and a huge fee added.

There is no travel pass that makes sense for 3 days in Paris. A carnet of ordinary bus/metro tickets is 14.10 for 10 tickets which can be shared among your party; if you run out buy another carnet.

The Museum Pass can make good sense for a first trip and can be bought wherever it is accepted; choose a less trafficked museum or a tourist outlet. It is particularly useful for skipping the long security lines at the Orsay and Orangerie and for use of the Richelieu entrance of the Louvre.
