Is the Duomo (Florence) undergoing repairs in Sept? Can we still climb to the top of the dome?

Actually 2-questions....

My wife and I are visiting Florence in late Sept. 2014....

A) Is the Duomo undergoing repairs? If yes, How much does the construction work impede viewing photographing the site?
B) Can we climb to the top of the dome?

Sadly the Duomo museum is closed for renovation until the fall of 2015. As far as I know the Duomo itself is not being worked on at the moment and climbing to the top is still available.
We will be in Florence next month also and were looking forward to seeing the museum but it won't be possible, I'm afraid.
