Is one night in Siena worth it?

I'm conflicted about making a special trip to Siena for one night. I read it was dream like at night. We would take the train\bus to see the attractions and then do an early night stroll and then the next day visit the winery about a mile away. The other alternative is to spend a third night in Florence and the next day do an all day wine tour to a few locations including Siena. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Yes, absolutely worth it! Siena is such a special and beautiful city, especially at night. There's nothing quite like dusk on the campo. My first time in Siena I was only there for one night and one night was enough for me to fall in love. It was my first time, but definitely not my last and each visit I end up spending more and more time there.

Ditto what Claire said. Siena is well worth a visit, and if you only have one night, then make use of that.

It is a lovely town but if you are there during the horse race (Paleo) the beautiful piazza will be off limits which is what makes the town worth visiting IMO.

Thank you all for your kind prompt responses. I will stay in Siena for one night as planned in September and also try that panforte desert.

During our upcoming RS My Way Italy tour, we are supposed to leave Florence headed to Assisi but stop for a shopping trip on day 9; that is described as "Tuscan Hill town". I am praying it will be Siena as so many folks on here rave about it so.
