Is it possible to reserve a seat on Freece trains the day before departure?

Hello

I have purchased a railpass for Italy and was wondering if I could reserve a seat on Freece trains the day before departure at a local train station?

The reason being is that I arrive in Tirano on the 27th and will be leaving for Milan on the 28th, however, I am not sure what time we will arrive in Milan (it depends on whether we want to go sightseeing) and don't want to risk missing my reserved train.

If you could please give me some advice, I'd be very grateful :)

I think you mean "Freccia" trains, not "Freece". The train from Tirano to Milan is a Regionale, operated by Trenord and is not reserved. There are no reservations available, you must validate the ticket before boarding. From Tirano, I doubt if you will have trouble finding a seat boarding in Tirano, but if you got off at Varenna-Esino to see Lake Como, you could have trouble finding a seat for the continuation to Milan.

From Milan, on Freccia trains, you can buy a reservation at Milano Centrale station.

There's a chance that you misspelled Tirano as well Freece.

Tirano is the small city on the border of Switzerland and Italy at the end of the Bernina Express, and the train goes down the east side of Lake Como and on to Milano. Indeed on this train only a nice Regionale ticket (validated) needed, as mentioned above.

On the other hand, could you have misspelled that and mean Torino, the big city where FIAT cars are made and is where the fastest TGVs from Paris come through on the way to Milano and onwards to the east and south. Having a Freccia there makes a lot of sense, and yes, you should be able to get onto one with a reservation bought one day ahead. If, rarely, the train you want is full so you can't get a short notice reservation, the next train likely will have room. The further out the better, of course.

This all presumes of course that you aren't trying to travel at a particularly busy time, like the day before a holiday - in which case all bets are off.....

Let's not dump on vc for what looks like a simple typo. Unless I'm mistaken, "Frecce" is the plural form of "Freccia".

No dumping - just trying to find what the actual question is.....

And the specific answer to his question, if a reservation is required, you can purchase it fifteen minutes before the train departs. Or five minutes if you can run fast and the platform is close. It is very rare for any train to be sold out. Unlike the French trains there is no limited for seat reservations for pass holders.
