Is it easy to DRIVE out of Naples Airport?

We will be leaving Ischia to go to Orvieto/San G/Florence. Thinking we'd prefer to rent a car for the whole Tuscany part (6 days.) I assume the best way to get from Ischia to Orvieto is to take ferry to Naples & drive. If so, is it easy to navigate out of Naples airport onto the proper route? Do NOT want to get lost and end up driving in Naples - NO WAY, NO HOW!

I would have no concern about driving away from the airport, but unless you have plans to stop en route, I would consider taking the train part of the way before getting the car--it's just a boring highway drive if you don't plans to stop anywhere. It might even be faster considering the fast train options.

We drove out of the Naples airport to Sorrento, so I suspect driving to any destination will be as easy. We had a GPS and it took us out of the Naples area without any problem. The area we drove thru to get to the freeway was not that nice, but other than that there were no surprises.

It is very easy, the airport is right next to the Naples bypass (Tangenziale).
This being said, I'll second the comment about the train. You do not need a car in Orvieto itself, and you could just rent one as you leave town.

Just get a train to Orvieto and save the time wasted to go to Naples airport and to drive from there on the A1 towards Rome. Why driving at 110 km/h when there is a train running at 250?

Thank you! We will take the train and pick up a car when we get nearer to Orvieto. We do want a car to tour Tuscany.

I think there is a Hertz rental office in Orvieto near the train station. But you could also take the train from Orvieto to Chiusi in Tuscany, and rent a car there. There are rental agencies in Chiusi as well (Europcar, Avis, Budget)

thank you! I will look into renting a car in or near Orvieto as suggested!
