Is Europcar reliable?

Most of the reviews/posts I saw were from a few years ago. We're looking at picking up in Venice and dropping off at MXP. Going through Auto Europe, Europcar's rates are quite a bit lower than some of the other well known companies. Also, Is the option to choose "no deductible" insurance the same as the CDW add on? I didn't see that as an option.

Thanks!

Good company which we book through Autoeurope. Be sure to get zero-deductible collision. It's assumed you are cognizant of ZTL and will have an IDP based on where you are from. The pickup would be at Piazzale Roma. Driving routes on viamichelin.com. You should avoid leaving anything of value in a car when parked.

Yes, it’s a major multinational rental car company. I think they are the 4th biggest after Enterprise, Avis, and Hertz. They are present in many US airports as well. I’ve never had problems with them.

No deductible means that there is zero deductible, which otherwise can be between 1000€ to 2000€. I usually get that option for peace of mind since it adds only about $4 per day to the rental cost.

We've rented directly from Europcar in Italy for 20 years without any problems and with several pleasant surprises such a being offered (and given) a lift to a train station after we dropped off the car.

We rented from Europcar through Auto Europe last July. Picked up in Balogna, prepaid to Auto Europe prior to departure including optional coverage. At the airport pickup was advised by Europcar agent we had to pay them additional to have the full coverage we thought we'd already paid for. With family tired after traveling 2 days I reluctantly agreed. Took me 2 months of fighting with both companies after our return to finally get our duplicate payment reimbursed
