I read that American citizens will need to obtain ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) authorization starting in 2025; however, other web sites state that the requirement will start in 2026. Does anyone have more information?

https://etias.com is the official site and you can sign up to be notified as they update it...we are also waiting to hear about that as we are going in October...

Etias.com is a private web site and not the official one.
If you use that site when you need an ETIAS they will more than likely charge you a fee for their service.
Stick with the official site as posted y Jeff.
As of now, no one knows when ETIAS will begin but it won't be this year.

I can’t stress enough how the site posted by Steph is NOT the official website. It’s a 3rd party website, gearing up to swindle innocent people as soon as ETIAS starts. I know I’ve written this before, but I feel is a real shame that Cameron Hewitt promotes this website as a “good source of info” in his ETA/ETIAS article on this site, without warning his readers that they will be overcharged when they use that particular website to apply for an ETIAS.

Sorry for the mistake of posting above as the official site, but you can still sign up for updates there so you can go to the actual site for information once you get the update, as there is no way to get notifications from the official site that I found.

Signing up for updates on any unofficial website is pointless. They have no more news than official sources. The idea of 'updates' on such a site is simply a hook and bait exercise.
If you just use the real official website and check back periodically that will be and is being updated as and when there is any real news or more information.
As, when and if ETIAS actually happens you can sure it will be big news, including on the RS website and on this forum.I
Currently the official website says last quarter of 2026.
