I can't tell from pictures and maps if the town is hilly. Too hilly for an elderly traveler with mobility issues? Also, how close can we park to the town center?
We spent a night there and I do not recall it being hilly---but that was twelve years ago so not all that clear. I do know it is flat along the Brenta River, which runs through the center. We went for a run along there before dinner. We stayed at Hotel Victoria which has free parking, right across the river from the town center. They sent us to a great little place for dinner---fantastic food for an unbelievable price. I wish I could remember the name!
Or are you stopping for a day trip?
Never been yet, it's on my list though. There have been multiple earthquakes in Italy in recent years, so maybe there are some new hills.
I seriously doubt that recent earthqukes in Lazio would create new hills in Bassano del Grappa, in the Veneto.
I think Larry was joking.
The main part of the city is all I know about; some side streets incline upward a bit, but I wouldn't say it's hilly. There is a lovely covered bridge where it seems everyone strolls with happy hour drinks in hand, at least the day I was there.
Yes, I should have recognized that! Too caught upbinnthe baseball game to catch a joke.
The Alpini covered bridge is a famous design by Palladio, and the reason we visited Bassano del,Grappa.
Thank you for all your replies! You have answered my question.
Lola, thank you for the Hotel Victoria recommendation. I think it fits the bill nicely. Do you remember if the restaurant was on that side of the river or in the town center?
