What is the best wireless company in Italy to buy a SIM card from? Do you buy there or here before you go? What kind of prepaid data is best to purchase?
Just buying a SIM won't work for you unless you have unlocked your phone. Since that often requires jailbreaking first for US iPhones, is that what you really want to do? We just bought the international packages for our iPhones and then turned off data roaming and were careful about how we used them and no problems.
I should have mentioned that my phone is unlocked.
Well that makes a big difference then! If you are unlocked, then the TIM prepaid is probably what we'd go with. What areas will you be in? We saw TIM service in Venice, a lot of Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast area. I don't tink we looked to see what service was available in Liguria.
Tuscany, Cinque Terra, Rome and Sicily. I'll look online to see where TIM is covered.
Would like to hear what you find out about the best way to use an iphone in Italy.
