What apps did you use the most and why? I feel like I have a lot, but not sure they are the right ones. Thanks!

I found GoodReader to be really helpful; it's a PDF reader that allowed me to eliminate most of the paper "backgrounder notes" I travel with. I also used it to bring backup copies of my reservations/tickets with me. I used iBooks for novels, which worked fine. I found it to be a little slow/awkward for guidebooks: flipping through a guidebook is much more convenient. I found WordRoll to be a good (and lighter) substitute for a phrase book; it gave me enough info to decode signs, menus, etc. Finally, the sleepmachine sound generator (free version) was really helpful for jetlagged nights.
