iphone charging in Egypt

We will be going to Egypt and Italy in a few weeks. Does anybody know if to charge our iphones in Egypt do we need a converter or just a plug adapter. We want to make sure we don't burn up our phones, as a few years ago we were in Egypt and my wife fried her hair blower. Thanks for any help Russ

Well, you have to look at the nameplate on the iPhone adapter, but virtually all of them say "100-240V Input". That would mean that you only need a plug adapter (Shuco, like Germany, I think, but I haven't been to Egypt.) There certainly are hair dryers with a switch to go between 110 and 220, but if you forget to turn the switch, all bets are off. No switch necessary on an Apple wall-wart.

Russ,

Your iPhone chargers are almost certainly designed for multi-voltage operation from 100-240 VAC. You can verify that by looking at the Input Voltage spec's listed on the charger (you may need a magnifying glass). I believe Egypt uses the Euro plug style, so you should only need Plug Adaptors.

If you both have iPhones, I'd suggest taking two chargers as it's always prudent to have a "backup".

Try posting this in the "Beyond Europe" section of the forum and you'll probably get more comments...this is the Italy section.
