Hi, Can anyone tell me if they were able to use an International affiliate SIM card in Italy with an IPAD2 that had Verizon access rather than AT&T? Thanks for the info in advance.

I was in an Apple store a week ago checking out the iPad2. The salespeople told me the Verizon 3G model wouldn't work with European micro sims, but AT&T's would.
There are basically 2 types of cellular network: CDMA and GSM. GSM is the standard in Europe. The only major GSM carriers in the US are T-Mobile and AT&T. That is why phones from these carriers work in Europe. Verizon uses CDMA. CDMA doesn't work in Europe, and you can't use a GSM SIM card in a CDMA phone. Ray of hope: Verizon just announced that its not-yet-available IPhone 5 will use both CDMA and GSM, and thus be "truly global." http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/04/21/verizon.accidentally.confirms.iphone.5.dual.mode/
