Into Rome and out of Turin in one week?

Looking to fly into Rome, then travel up coast to Pisa, Genoa and then up to Turin, before flying out of Milan ( I have ancestry in Turin region which is why its on list). Mid June to early August. Looking at airfare now. I would like a 1, or 2 beach days on coast along way. Is this feasible in a 7 days in Italy - 9 day trip total as this is all I can pull off this year? I have never been to Italy. Wanted to do Croatia and Italy when I though I had 2 weeks but don't think that is possible in 7 days. Thanks in advance. This forum is very helpful!

How much time will you spend in Rome, and how much time did you wish to have in Turin? Do you have to be in Milan the last night (e.g., for an early departure)? Those two would easily fill a week, but you can squeeze in one coastal stop. Check the train routes on the Trenitalia website to maximize your time.

I also agree that with only 7 days, I would only do Rome and Turin otherwise you’ll waste too much time checking in and out of hotels, getting to and from rail stations and riding the rails. As is you can count on just about a full day getting from a hotel in Rome to lodgings in Turin. With 3 full days in each city, you can savor and enjoy them.

I live less than a mile from the beaches in Florida so I don’t let European beach time cut down on the time I can visit sites in Europe. You’re spending quite a few bucks to visit Italy so analyze how much 1 or 2 days at the beach is worth to you.

Great questions, thanks for asking them, this forum is invaluable to me! This is kind of last minute for use and I now realize how clueless I am on the whole strategy. The reply about losing time checking in and out of hotels and traveling between regions / cities and putting that on top of about 14 air hours with at last 1 connection from Colorado has really got me thinking. So rather than trying to fly into Rome and then going all the way to N. Italy - Turin, and flying out of Milan (which is a bit cheaper though) I feel we would be better off just focusing on one region, and maybe only staying in 2 locations, then day tripping to where we want to go? The only reason I wanted to hit Turin was because we have ancestry there, but since I also have that in Croatia I will do a second trip when I can go for 2-3 weeks, fly into Milan, hit Turin then rent a car and head down to Venice and then on through Slovenia to Croatia, then fly out of Croatia.

My true goal is to make this great for my 15 year old daughter who has been dreaming of this trip for a long time. And its just me and her going since my wife and younger daughter have decided to do something local since they are not very fond of long flights. So this could be the only time we get to do this where its just us. Anyway I think she likes the look of the Amalfi coast, cliffside dwellilngs, ect, the towns, cobblestone streets, the cities, cafes, ect. She would like to see some of the historic sites but is really not that into them as far as trying to see them all. I think shes wants to just soak up the country more than hit the "must see" sights, this is the style of travel we have always strived for and it must have rubbed off.

Her official list includes; Almafi coast, Sorrento, Atrani, Positrano, Capri, Pisa and Venice. But since Venice seems out of the question and Pisa not really feasible with this mindset shes OK with saving Pisa and Venice for the next trip.

So does Flying into Rome, then heading down to Almafi coast and picking 1-2 towns to stay in sound like a good plan?
Sorry for this long post :)

Thanks in advance as this has been invaluable to me.
