Has anyone used Expresso wifi in Italy? I am considering using this service for internet while I am in Italy. I would like to know if travelers have found it to be relaible.

Short answer is, No, have not. The longer answer is that I find the free wifi at hotels, bars, restaurants to be adequate for my purposes.

Christine,

I've never used Expresso WiFi and probably wouldn't ever use a service like that, especially at €4-6 per day. A month long trip would cost €120. As Frank mentioned it's very easy to access Wi-Fi free in most hotels, and for the occasional times I might need it at other times, I just use cellular data.

They charge €30 for 5 days!
Are you kidding me?
For €30 you can go to a Vodafone mobile phone store with your unlocked smart phone and buy an Italian SIM card which comes with 2Gb of data for the whole month, 300 outgoing minutes of outgoing calls worldwide (incoming calls are all free), and 300 outgoing SMS texts worldwide (incoming texts are all free).

My suggestion is to unlock a smart phone and buy a SIM card when you get to Italy. For a 3 week trip, I get a Vodafone SIM and put 4 GB data on it for a total of around 60€. I use wifi in the hotel/apt, but data including extensive GPS using cell data. I have done this for the last 3 years and it's a lot cheaper than AT&T international service for the same data. I've never run out if data, but I don't stream video, only do email, Facebook, and GPS directions.
