In my, now, day trip to Padua and Vicenza I'd like to visit the MUSEO INTERNAZIONALE DELLA MASCHERA
AMLETO E DONATO SARTORI outside Padua. Has anyone visited the museum? Is it worth the time and taxi ride?
Hi John,
Since this is a relatively obscure museum, I am assuming you have a real interest in going to a mask museum. I have been there but only because our Italian relative, who teaches ancient Greek Drama, thought this would be a good place to bring us. I guess it was interesting while she explained the significance of the masks to us, but I would not have chosen to go there. There are masks from all over the world. I remember some where made of leather made to the form of a person's face. The town it is in, Albano Terme, is a spa town. We really didn't get to see too much of it because it was getting dark. I hope this helps you. I, for one, would not make a special trip, unless you are into this sort of thing. If you are making a day trip to Padua I would strongly suggest the Scrovegni Chapel. And don't miss having wonderful cappuccino at Cafe Pedrocchi!
