Ok - its decided - Grandpa, me and son are doing 12 days divided between the above. I know it is a fast pace - but we have specific things we will do in Rome and Florence so we can be tightly scheduled there.
I think we will be basing ourselves in either Wengen or Lauterbrunner as I have been there before and so am more comfortable. Main questions now are the transport route by train.
Fly into Zurich - train to Lauterbrunner. then train to ? venice? and move down from there?
Is that the best way? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks
Yes, going from Lauterbrunnen to Venezia S. Lucia station is the logical route and some connections take only 7 hours, e.g., departing at 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. How to Look Up Train Schedules Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it. You might consider a Swiss Card for the Swiss portion of the trip, but buy the Italian tickets either in stations as you go or at www.trenitalia.com.
