We are staying 10 days in Sorrento and along the Amalfi Coast in October and have 4 additional days on our trip before returning to US. As a contrast from the beach area, I’d like a recommendation for something inland that we could drive or take a train to, no more than 4 hours or so away from Amalfi Coast/Naples area, that would be interesting to visit for a few days before returning to Naples for our flight home. So far I’ve only come up with Matera (or Foggia?) and that looks pretty good. I’d love some other suggestions from people familiar with this area. We like old towns, walking, hiking, great food, off beaten path, and quaint hotels. Thanks.
