Intercity train schedule?

We will be traveling from Orvieto to Naples on Wed Sept 22. I see an Intercity train leaves Orvieto 10:38, arrives Napoli 2:02- on the Trenitalia schedule thru Aug 31.
Hoping they just haven’t added Sept schedule? Does anyone know when that will happen?
Would much prefer the Intercity option over 1 or 2 changes and the longer travel time.

Thanks

Yes, september is still far away. Unless there is some engineering work planned, the tickets will be available.

This has nothing to do with engineer works and September being far away. In normal times both railway companies sell tickets in 6 months blocks whereas all today's Intercity sales "end" on August 31. Unfortunately, the need to reimburse thousands and thousands of tickets because of Covid has been a nightmare both for Trenitalia.com and Italotreno.it.

The summer schedules from Orvieto up to December 12 have been decided, but they sell tickets intercity trains tickets in 2 months' blocks and not 6. Use a day of travel before September for your planning, Covid permitting the same trains will run in September.

For the same reason only Covid knows when "that will happen". It shouldn't be a big problem from your point of view: if they were forced to reduce again the number of running trains I doubt you'd be allowed/willing to enter Italy. Those two changes will be your last problem.

Edit: As I have already explained to you, if Trenitalia quit running trains between Rome and Naples you wouldn't be forced to change twice. You'd get off the Trenitalia train from Rome and 40 minutes later you'd get on an Italotreno high speed train to Naples.

No telling. The Bahn website, which always seems to give more detailed information, even for other countries, has this note.

runs 14 Jun to 31 Aug 2021 Mon - Sat; not 9 to 28 Aug 2021

Other itineraries have shorter travel times because they use high speed Frecciarosso trains between Rome and Naples. Most have one change at Rome Tiburtina, which should make for easy changes. Up the escalator to the bridge structure, then a short walk to the new "binario", then down the escalator for the new track.

Thanks…I think
Not sure if that clarifies or confuses.

OK so as I suspected it is too early see Intercity schedules for September.

Dario- you post that those tix are sold in 2 month blocks. For September trips would those be released July 1 or August 1?

I realize I have other options.

I’d like to get to Naples as early and as quickly/simply as we can, so hoping for that 10:38 Intercity- which looks like it will be less expensive than a regionale/freccia combination as well.

Just want to know when I should start looking for the tix to be available.

(For reference I am using Wed Aug 18 for my search on Trenitalia site)

Sam-
What does this mean?

not 9 to 28 Aug 2021

When I look at the Bahn site for dates between Aug 9 to 28, it does show that the IC train is running, but the train number changes. During these dates, the train number is IC 35725. For all the other times it is IC 583. No idea why.

Interesting, they show no Freccia trains operating after Sept 19. I think you'll just have to stand by and take a look at the schedule in July.
