Int'l flight layover time allowance

Grrr... Dang Delta just changed our itinerary. I now have only a 40 minute layover in JFK. I had (tightly) allowed 1.5 hours initially. Is 40 minutes enough? I called Delta and the representative said they only require 30 minutes int'l (seems impossible!)
I will have traveled from Maui, to LA, then on to JFK. Need more time for JFK to MXP, right? Thx.

When are you going and which places are you visiting? If you go to Tuscany and you travel in summer ask if they can book u to Pisa or VCE instead of MXP. Those flights leave late from JFK. 40 min is ok with no delays, but u never know with the weather and air traffic in NY.

Hi Roberto, I'm currently flying into Milan, arriving on April 23, and taking the train straight out to Venice. (bought ticket without totally thinking that through... It was a good deal.). I'm on hold with Delta again, I'm hoping I can get switched to Marco Polo.
All of my legs appear to be operated by Delta, so with NO interruptions, it could work, right?

If you are going to Venice see if they can put you on the JFK-VCE flight with Delta. 40 min can work but in case of delay from LAX it's risky.
