Insieme Trenitalia ticket rate ?

If Insieme is a bundle rate (even applied for Standard Class), why does the cost of Insieme for my trip is even more expensive than the 2nd class Super Economy? Is it because the only class left is the higher economy class?

Also what's the difference between Super Economy and Economy? the cost of my trip is the same for both but how come the Economy class have more flexibility such as changing the booking date w/ extra fee?

also i assume 'Base' class is Business Class?
it also seems there's no difference for the seatings between all classes as well.

I am not following the Insieme reference. There are three levels of train fares -- Super Economy, Economy, and Base. The first two are discounted rates with restrictions as to refund and change and limited regarding availability. The classes of service are generally second and first class (fare levels across both are the same) There are some variations to first class but the seating is the same 1x2. Second class seating is 2x2. I do not find a significant difference in the space between seats (front to back). Probably slightly greater in first but it is not a huge difference.

Base is the full fare (walk up rate). Not related to class of service. There is a difference regarding seats as explained above.

Where are you going and when? Where are you getting your information?

Insieme (which means “together” in Italian) is a group rate for groups of 2 to 5 persons traveling together. The discount is 30% over the full BASE ticket price (BASE is full price, nothing to do with business class). The Insieme tickets must be used with the rest of the group and do not allow changes or refunds.

The SuperEconomy fares offer larger discounts (over 50% over the base price for both standard and business class, and a little less than that for executive class), therefore it’s a better deal than the Insieme offer. No changes or refunds here either.

The Economy fare is about 25% discount over the Base (full) price. Can make limited changes but with payment of penalty.

So, obviously the SuperEconomy is the best deal of all, but in case all SuperEconomy tickets have sold out, maybe the others are still available.
