Innsbruck and Trento — Accommodations?

We will be in Innsbruck, Austria for 3 nights and Trento, Italy for 5 nights in October 2021. Can anyone recommend moderately priced hotels? I have requested Rick’s books from the library. Thanks! Nancy

We stayed at the Hotel Rovereto (one town south of Trento) while preparing for our daughters wedding in Villa Lagarina. The hotel was pleasant enough. I don't know if you mean to stay in Trento proper or environs.

I stayed at the Hotel Goldener Adler in Innsbruck. It's in the middle of everything. A hotel has been on that sight since the late 1300's. (The rooms have been modernzed.) You can wonder the hotel and see information on all the famous people who have stayed there since it opened.

While there, a parade went by and I was able to watch it from my room.

I've stayed several times at the Marriott in Innsbruck because I can use points and stay for free. It's nice but does lack a certain charm. I've dined at the cafe at Hotel Central and have toured a couple of their rooms (knowing I would soon be out of Marriott points!). Theirs are very modern in a Tirolean sort of way. The cafe is great. If this pandemic lightens up I hope to be passing through there in October as well.

We also stayed in Innsbruck at the Goldener Adler, right close to the famous Goldenes Dach (Golden Roof). That was 20 years ago . . . . It has since become a Best Western, but don’t let that make you think it is a “chain hotel”. Best Westerns are affiliated but still individually owned, and it appears this one is still family-run. We have had very good experiences in the Best Westerns we have used in Germany.

It is a 15-minute walk from the train station, if that affects your decision.

Best Western in Europe is not a chain. It is basically an agreement that the hotel will have certain standards and in return have access to the Best Western reservation system and advertising. They are all locally owned.

I have had some wonderful stays in Best Westerns in Europe.

Thanks to all who responded. I can’t figure out how to thank you all individually, sorry. We have decided on Buonconsiglio and are still thinking about the other.
