The Albergo Milano is incredibly popular (for good
reason) and thus is booked months in advance for
the whole season.
I had to book six month ahead to get a room in May.
But - who knows, you might be lucky!

I am unsure if you meant the whole lake or just the town of Como.
If you meant the entire lake - then I am happy to suggest Alberghetto La Mariana in Cadenabbia. It is a wonderful little inn and the food is out of this world. Understand however that each evening's menu is fixed (we ate there two nights and loved every bite!).
The inn is just steps from the ferry to Bellagio.
The inn has a website and Paola (the owner) speaks wonderful English.
