We are going from Italy into France. I would like to drop off our rental car in Aosta, then take public transportation to the lifts that take you over Mt Blanc. Is there bus service to Courmayeur and the base of the lifts? Will certain hotels provide complimentary transportation to the lifts?
We would like to take the lifts all the way to Chamonix. Then from there, train service on to other destinations.

Sorry, but you're too late. The last day for the cable car between Helbronner and l'Aiguille du Midi was 2 September. You can take the bus from Aosta to Chamonix through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Go here for the timetables.
