Inexpensive Luggage Storage Rome or Naples?

Hi. After skiing March to Mid April in Northern Italy, my wife and I relocate south. We need to dump our skis and gear somewhere for about 2 weeks as we road trip Puglia. The luggage storage near the train station in Rome would cost 300+ euros. Is anyone aware of better options for multi-day storage? My only other idea is to see if a hotel would store it if we started/ended our trip there.

Check with the hotel if they'll do you that favor. They did so for my wife and sister-in-law once, while they took a few days' trip and returned to the same hotel later.

Otherwise check with one of the luggage service available. They generally ask you to drop your stuff at a participating hotel.
Try one of the following. Check their best deals:

Just returned from a month in Southern Italy. My only stop where I needed storage for my carryon was in Bari. I found a nanny storage but the ones there would not accommodate your skis as the boxes are rectangular. But around the corner was a pastry shop with a sign out front for luggage storage. They took my bag away and put it in a secure room. That type of situation would probably work better for your skis. These type of places probably don't advertise on the internet so it would just be a visual sighting.

I would also recommend to rent skis locally. I bought a pair of skis in Italy many years ago (at the time they were much cheaper there, not sure nowadays), but it was a hassle to travel with them by plane especially because I had to go through customs at JFK and therefore had to retrieve them then check them again to SFO. In your case I wouldn’t bother to carry them back and forth. Also no guarantee you will be skiing much in April if it’s a dry and warm spring which seems to be the case frequently in recent years. Unless you like to ski on artificial slush.

Just a follow-up...

I ended up using the app "Bounce" which seems about half the luggage places near Termini used. Prices did not fluctuate much and I even checked in person for a better rate since I needed 18 days - but no relief. The cheapest I could get for (2) big rollers + (1) ski bag (w/two ski sets stuffed inside) was a hefty 300 euros.

Trust me...I know renting would relieve the hassle of lugging gear around - it's been true hell at times. This seasons overseas ski trip was 7 weeks in Japan followed by 5 weeks in the Alps. That's way too costly to rent. It's also a hassle itself for daily rentals as we do not linger at any one resort (ie., multi-day rentals are not viable). We have decided for our August trip to South America we will rent skis there, but that is primarily a sightseeing trip with a few ski days mixed in.
