Fighting the shrinking dollar, but wanting to stay in Sorrento. Can anyone suggest a place not too far from the train station for less than 100E?
We stayed at http://www.villanna.com/ which is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Found it to be very pleasant (beautiful garden) , clean and great breakfast. It cost us 80 Euros a night.

You can also try the Hotel IL Nido in Sorrento, I have a reservation for this spring and the rate is a little over a 100 euro per night. This hotel is recommended in Rick's guide book.

I second Il Nido! We stayed there 4 years ago in May before it was a Rick Steves recommendation. It is located on the hill above Sorrento with a spectacular view of the Bay of Naples, the sea and Vesuvius. They have a shuttle from the train station and to a central location in town. Their breakfast buffet is hearty and the restaurant is very good.
Sorrento suggestion: take a bus trip to the Amalfi Coast and sit on the right side for best views.
I stayed at La Residenza Hotel in Sorrento, great location, fair price. The room was huge and had the best A/C available in all of Italy. Great place!!

Check out Ulisse Deluxe Hostel. (Looks more like a hotel than a hostel) www.ulissedeluxe.com Just opened up in the last year or so. It is in Rick's book. Has gotten good reviews. Just booked my daughter there. Have stayed at Il Nido 3 years ago, and also highly recommend them. Spectacular view, great food at reasonable prices, very helpful.
