individuals tickets in Rome

I need your help. I am trying to purchase without making a mistake. I am looking for individuals tickets for Vatican Museums, Underground Colosseum, Appian Way etc. How will I know the right tickets to purchase? We could walk around without tour.

Any suggestions?

There are no tickets for the Appian Way - it is a road. And I don't think there is any advantage to prepurchasing tickets for the Vatican or the Colosseum or than perhaps skipping a line. We just bought them when we needed them but it has been a couple of years so maybe some changes. But I would also encourage you to purchase a tour especially for the Colosseum. Walking around and not understanding what you are seeing is a waste of time and money.

You can buy your Colosseo tickets at CoopCulture. If you do not book a tour, do at least get a good audio guide or book to guide yourself. Rick Steves, of course, does a great job.

For the Vatican Museums you book with the Vatican. Note the link for "Guided Tours for Individuals." Again, a tour will enhance your experience enormously.

Rick's guide for the Appian Way is excellent, too. In the book, of course!

Can you explain this?

What are the difference?
ticket on-line entrance € 12.00

colosseum, underground and third ring tours
cost: € 9.00

I think I rather one day. I am lost to follow this website, coop culture

You don't need to book with a private company to take the underground tour or to visit the Vatican museums. Both sites have official tours that are very good.

For the underground colosseum tour you'll need an entry ticket, 12 euros, along with a tour ticket, 9 euros. You can book both online. The tour sells out quickly so if you are interested you should book it as soon as your dates become available.

I checked coop culture.com

I think it is not available in June?? I don't understand. I prefer one day only

fsg89, based on your other post, I'm surprised you're looking at traditional tours (note to other posters: OP and companion are both deaf so audio guides are out of the picture) given you were concerned about about paying ticket prices for things "because we are missing a lot of information." The tours you're looking at do not provide ASL guidance: are you aware of that?

You are not allowed to walk around the underground and third ring sections of the Colosseum without a tour. While a rented ASL video guide is available for the main section of the arena, there isn't one for either of these.

I know that your son is also traveling with you: is he also hearing-impared or are you counting on him for translations at attractions, or parts of attractions, where ASL video guides are not available?

My son is Hearing :) I am still struggling to find the date for June but the coop culture.com did not provide any information as I think.

I need to know how to purchase it through coop culture.com. Like with tour but Not sure how to purchase it. I think I see 12 euro and plus and plus???

Please advice

Regular entrance tickets through Coopculture are € 12.00 plus a € 2,00 reservation fee so € 14.00 for each adult. These tickets are good for any desired date the sites are open until December 31st this year; you are not buying them for a particular month.

Reservation limitations apply to the Third ring/Underground tours. Those tours are not yet available for June reservation, and won't be until around the middle of March. As stated on the website:

"it will be possible to book the Underground each three months. Reservation Service will be open 15 days before the three month period."

The current three-month reservation period is from January-March; that's why you're not seeing booking capability beyond that. These tickets have a price IN ADDITION to the regular entry-priced tickets of 14 € if purchased through the Coopculture website.

Similar applies to reservations for Vatican Museums: they're only available 60 days before the desired date of a visit. For instance, if you want to go on the 21st of June, tickets become available 60 days before that date. Unlike the Colosseum/Palatine/Forum, however, these reservations will be for a specific day and time.

@Kathy,

I think I understand a bit now.

Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine - Individuals

Colosseum-Roman Forum/Palatine > Full Price+Reservation
4 people 14.00 € 56.00 €

Above, how long duration for this one? Is this with group tour? And also anytime I can go there in June 2016?

For 4 adults you'll pay 14 euros each for tickets booked online. For 4 adults you'll pay 11 euros each for tours booked online. These tours last between 60-90 minutes depending on the guide and the tours in front of them. All together it should cost 100 euros for 4 adults to get entry tickets and the underground tour. You cannot book tour tickets beyond the end of March at this time. They only release them in 3 month blocks. Tickets for April, May and June will go on sale in Mid March.

Entry tickets are not time nor date specific but tours are.

Yes, € 56.00 for 4 adult, general-admission tickets.
These are not guided tours: you explore the main areas of the Colosseum on your own,
It does not include the underground or third ring.

This also does not include the ASL video guides ( € 5,50 apiece). Rent those when you arrive.

@Donna,

Where do I find the 11 euro each tours booked online AND WAIT FOR MID MARCH? Can I booked online for 14 euros each tickets NOW? WE ARE PLANNING TO GO ON JUNE 17TH OR 18TH. I think it approx 3 hours for all together , colosseum, colosseum underground, Roman Forum and Palatine . Correct?

You find the underground/third ring tour here:
http://www.coopculture.it/en/ticket.cfm?office=Colosseo%2C%20Sotterranei%20e%20Terzo%20Ordine&id=0&evento=6

This is 11 euro per person IN ADDITION to the cost of € 14 regular entry tickets you bought. This tour is only for these sections of the Colosseum.

You cannot buy this this tour yet: it's too early. Book the tour RIGHT AWAY in mid-March when it becomes available for the April - June months as slots are going to fill very, very quickly. Some people get up in the middle of the night to make their bookings on the day openings become available! Unlike Palatine, Forum and Palatine, you must reserve for a specific day and time slot.

These tours are not available in ASL.

If you manage to get reservations for the tour date you want, do the Palatine, Forum and the rest of the Colosseum on the same day as your tour. You will need to take your general entry ticket - the 14€ one - to the reservation desk along with your voucher for the tour, even if you've already used it that day at all three sites. It's your proof that you paid the entry fee required.

Your € 14 regular entry tickets allow you to skip TICKET lines but not the mandatory security check line that everyone must go through. You will want to arrive at least 30 minutes early for your tour to allow enough time for this.

Donna, fact-check me on this? It's late in the day and not all the brain cells are on "fire". Ha.

Kathy, does that mean it usually takes 30 minutes to go through security for people who have skip the line tickets?

Colosseum, Underground and Third Ring - I could not find the description. However I think it is, The tour ends with a climb to the third ring, an extraordinary point of view of the valley of the Colosseum with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.

Ok... Now I am trying to make it right. If I purchase ticket on-line for Colosseum for 14 euro per person RIGHT Now with NO date till THEN I will wait till Mid March to purchase for Colosseum, Underground and Third Ring with guided tour (another 11 euro per person). If the date are opening if I find the date what I choose.

I hope I understand this.

TW, the time it takes for people with regular-entry tickets to go through security can vary depending on how busy it is, or if there are other complications. For instance, immediately after the Paris attacks, I read that the check line was slow as they were being very, very cautious.

The 30 minutes I was referring to was specifically for people with tour reservations. From the website:"
"People with reservations are kindly requested to show up at the ticket office at least 30 minutes before the time previously agreed."

Yes!

If you've already used the entry ticket at the forum/palatine hill and checked in for the tour you can go straight to the security scan.

Everyone goes through the security scanner. You must allow at least 30 minutes prior to your tour time to get through the scanner. Even with pre=purchased tickets there is no way to avoid this line up. If the colosseum is at capacity you will not be able to enter even if you already have tickets or a tour booked.

FSG, yes, you can buy the entry tickets now but you must wait until mid March when they open up the dates for the underground tour before you can buy those tickets. When they become available just buy the date and time that fits your schedule.

Hello Donna, I have kids aged 7 and 11. Do I need to buy tickets for them?
