In Florence - question on Fiesole

We have one more night and was wondering if making the trek to Fiesole for dinner and view is worth it. How to get there and what restaurant suggestions? If you think it's a hard pass, where would you suggest a great dinner and view in Florence?

Fiesole is a nice place, I used to get pottery there. Nice views, quite different from Florence.

I don't do great dinners, I do cheap, so no answer there though.

If nothing has changed in the interim, the number 7 bus goes directly there...

Have not done Fiesole but with a view on Santa Croce, we have dined twice at Ristorante Boccadama and been very pleased. Not fancy but we’ll-prepared and presented food on that lovely piazza.

It's a nice afternoon getaway. Roman amphitheater a must see.

For dinner, the best restaurant (with the greatest view) is 'La Reggia degli Etruschi', up the street that takes you to the San Francesco convent. Make reservations.

I think the Terrazza45 also has a terrace with a view but haven't been there.

Another vote for Fiesole. The bus ride up the hill is easy, and the views over Florence are terrific. There's a short walk up a hill from the bus station, that gets you to a terrace. Lots of locals were chilling there when I went. Be sure to check on timing for sunset, so you can time your visit.

Can't help you with dinner plans... I was there in off-season when most restaurants were closed.

We were there 2 weeks ago. We went to ZEB, a really terrific restaurant across the river from the Uffizi. Very small, so reservations are good. We arrived on Sun 1:30, and had to wait 45 min for 2 of the 18 seats to open up. It's mentioned in Michelin.

I agree it's an easy bus ride, and the amphitheater is pretty neat. I didn't eat a meal when I was there (I went in the morning), but there was a bakery not far up the hill on the left that had some of the most delicious little treats ever. It was a nice break from the constant gelato I'd been eating in Florence! Oh, I wandered some side streets and loved the views over Florence as well as just the quaintness of it all.
