In Appreciation

Hi Travel Forum posters,

I was planning a 3-week solo trip to Italy, leaving August 19. There has been a lot of information, sometimes changing daily, to navigate through during the last month in preparation. I just want to take a moment and extend a huge heartfelt thank you to so many on this forum who have quickly answered questions, especially pertaining to their current experience in Italy and also to our Italian knowledgeable posters who answered specific regulation questions. This forum is one of my main “go to” places for info.

I decided yesterday to postpone this trip and am feeling comfortable, although disappointed, with that decision. For those going soon, I hope you have a wonderful trip! Let us know the fun we’re missing because we love hearing about your trip in Trip Reports.

Warm regards,
Jean

I am disappointed for you.

I am hoping that I won't have to postpone our April 2022 trip to Italy. I thought I was allowing enough time for the pandemic to wind itself down. Lately, I'm not so sure.

Oh Jean, I'm so sorry about your trip. I know you were torn over the decision.

At least with all the smoke we've got today you'll put those N95's to good use if you go out!

Jean -- You have company. I think you made a wise decision. Don't regret it !! We did the same for our London/Paris trip scheduled for mid Sept. There is always next year. Will do something in the US. Still holding on to our Caribbean cruises in Jan and Feb. Mid-Oct is the go/no go decision point.

“ There is always next year.” That’s what I counted on when my 2020 trip was cancelled….. : (

Pam, don’t be surprised if you see me hanging around the Italian gelato shop in CDA, dreaming of being back! : ) I’ll go ahead and schedule our area travel group meeting for September.

I’m sorry for your disappointment but hopefully next year will be the year for this special trip to Italy with your daughter.

I am still going to Venice in 2 weeks and I feel comfortable with my decision although for awhile I was debating whether to cancel. These are uncertain times and we have to find the decision we are comfortable with.

Have a fantastic time in Venice, Judy! It’s such a magical city - one of our favorites. ❤️

Hi Jean, just curious, was there a specific thing that caused you to cancel in the end. I am just curious what makes some decide to go ahead with their trips and what makes others cancel. From the trip reports of those on the ground in Europe right now, it seems like people are having a great time.

Jean, I am so sorry and want to echo what Judy B said.

I am glad you are now comfortable with your decision and don't have to worry any more. May next year be smoother !

Diveloonie aka Tammy, there are reasons why I cancelled, but I hesitate to list them because I wouldn’t want to sway someone’s decision who already has decided to go. If you’re on the fence and really want to know, you can PM me.
