Imperia on the Ligurian coast

If you are looking for an undiscovered place to experience authentic Liguria without a lot of tourists, please consider Imperia. Located between San Remo and Genova, it is one of two twin cities directly on the coast. There are many delicious restaurants, an excellent olive oil museum & store, beaches, shops, and the sea. Imperia has a microclimate that made this part of Liguria the Flower Coast and the weather was wonderful in November.

We spent a wonderful 3 days in Imperia at La Casetta di Giuci. It is very centrally located, with easy walking to the beaches, restaurants, and the Olive Oil Museum. Our room was large and had direct access to our own patio with beautiful trees and plant. Cinzia, our host, was so warm and welcoming. Her breakfast was delicious. We even asked her for her focaccia recipe! If you are looking for an authentic Ligurian experience without tourists we highly recommend La Casetta di Giuci and Imperia.

We also love this part of the Ligurian coast. In 2019 we stayed in Noli which is about 45 km to the east. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return one day. I can still taste the young, creamy gorganzola.
