I am flying into Rome and onto a connection to Catania, Where do I go for immigrations?
I arrive at terminal # 3 and depart terminal # 1 Thank you
You will clear passport control and then customs in Terminal 3. Once you walk through the frosted doors into the lobby, find an exit (uscita),, then turn left, and walk down to Terminal 1.
Buon viaggio,
Assuming you are flying in from outside the Schengen Area, you will go through immigration (passport control) in Rome, as that is where you enter the Schengen Area.
Your bags will only go through customs in Rome if you collect them there. If they are labelled through to Catania, then customs will be after you pick them up in Catania. Customs takes zero time, it is a random check only, most people aren't stopped. If you are travelling from inside the EU - no customs.
I recently flew London to Rome to Bari in the morning on a Wednesday. There was only one couple ahead of us in the Rome immigration line. Took one or two minutes. Rome has a beautiful airport. Walking to different terminals is not difficult and doesn’t even feel like you’ve changed terminals. Restaurants are upstairs accessed by escalators or elevators. All very nice.
Correct, assuming you are flying in from a non Schengen country.
Good catch.
Buon viaggio,
