We are planning to stay at Il Timone Loreto in Monterosso al Mare in April. Rick Steves recommended this property in his 2012 Tour Book but he dropped it in 2013. Does anyone happen to know why he might have done so? Has anyone stayed there recently and if so can you tell me if Il Timone is still OK? I also have a reservation for the same time period at Albergo al Carugio, so I need to cancel one of these hotels soon. Thanks.

I had a similar occurance in Orvieto for our upcoming trip in April. RS Italy 2011 recommended a hotel, and ped it in the 2013. I checked Trip Advisor reviews on the original hotel and the other one I was considering. That helped me make my decision.
Also heading to Italy in April and will be in Monterosso (Villa Steno). Who knows, perhaps we'll cross paths.
