If arena floor was not available would you book a new tour of the Colosseum?

We have the Belvedere+Underground official tour booked for June. I just received an email that access to the arena floor will not be allowed on the day of our tour, or any day that week. They gave me the option of a full refund, or to keep the tour without arena access.

I'm looking at some other private companies - Roman Guy, Walks of Italy, Viatour - to see what the options are. We could book a more expensive tour with one of them the first day we arrive in Rome, before the arena floor restriction begins. Maybe a night tour? Of course these are much more expensive than the one we have booked.

Suggestions? Pay more and race to the Colosseum on the first day we're there, or just do the official tour as planned without arena access? We are traveling with our son and think he would enjoy getting to see the arena floor.

I would stick with the tour you have. it's not worth the hassle and extra expense just to to be able to walk out on that platform for a few minutes.

Understand that the "floor" wasn't there for tourists to access for many, many years (neither were the Belvedere or Underground) and no one who visited before they were felt like they'd missed out! :O)
