Ideas on a place to stay overnight in Milan

Hi All,

Decided to change my flight to one day earlier from arriving 9/8 to arriving 9/7 into Milan from newark NJ.I did this so we could have a night to relax and make our 3 hour tour of Santa Maria Grazie and the Duomo. Can anyone suggest a reasonable place to stay 1 night that would be central to Milan Centrale and Santa Maria Grazie? Thank You.

There are dozens of places near Milano Centrale and the Metro, I like Hotel Berna. I also sometimes stay at Hotel Garda, across the street from Berna, and quite a bit cheaper for the room, but breakfast is not included.

Staying near the station will make your departure easier the next day - just walk to the station from the hotel.

Don,

Hotel Garda or Hotel Berna are both good choices, as they're only about a five minute walk from Milano Centrale. You can use the Metro to reach Santa Maria della Grazie, or a Taxi if you have a generous budget.

Iv'e stayed at both Berna and Garda, and both times were for overnight stays departing early the next morning.

For a simple overnight, less than 24-hrs, they served their purpose, as they were adjacent to Milan Centrale and wasn't too far from good eats and areas to kill some time. The front desk staff was attentive and spoke English. Santa Maria delle Grazie is about 2.5 miles away, have the front desk hail a cab for you. After visiting you can cab or, transit over to the Duomo, there you should be able to spend some leisure time, plenty of eating options and do a 30-40 minute easy walk back to the hotel.

The Duomo metro stop is right in the piazza. If you have time, you can take an elevator or stairs to walk on the Duomo roof.

Thank you for the suggestions guys, after some consideration I booked the Aosta Hotel across from Milan Central. Will be looking to explore areas near Milan Central after a 3 hour tour of Santa Maria Grazie, Duomo and some other stops .So you say the Metro stop is right in the Piazza ?This would be great as I assume it will lead us back to Milan Central. Any other areas of interest near Milan Central we should know about?.Main shopping street etc? Thank You
