Ideal home base in Tuscany for 8 days

I have been reading/researching a lot about B&Bs in Florence and Siena where we want to spend 4 days each and see places like Pisa, SG, Volterra, Chianti and Montalcino. But I am trying to figure out if there is one centrally located place which could be a home base and then travel to all these places. Can anyone suggest a location and name of B&B/Hotel/Agriturismo. The primary criteria is that the place should be well connected by Bus or Train. Thanks

You'll have a hard time finding a good agriturismo that's "well connected" by bus or train. People who stay at ATs usually rent a car. Consider staying in Florence and taking the train/bus from there as day trips. Florence is a major public transit hub.

Florence is a good home base for the towns you want to visit. Transportation from Siena would be a bit less convenient. Consider Il Bargellino in Florence. Not fancy, but good location and great owners. I stayed there in May and will be staying there again in September. It's in a quiet neighborhood about a 5 minute walk from the train station and about a 10 minute walk from the bus station.
