Hello
Do I have to bring my passport to gain admission to sites that I have tickets for? The tickets state that I have to show ID. I have my Global passport, would that be sufficient?
Thank you
I think they want to see an official passport from an actual nation. BTW, What is a Global passport?
To be honest, you never know how strict a site may be. Ideally, yes, they would want to see your passport, which you should carry with you in Italy. (I and others have been stopped in Italy by uniformed police, asking for passports and scanning them)
Now will they accept a drivers license or a global entry card, or just a piece of paper with your name on it? Maybe, sometimes they do not even bother to check for ID, just depends who it is and how they feel that day. The whole idea of requiring a ticket with a specific name is to limit third party sales, or as we call it scalping of tickets, but they do not closely enforce it.
I was on a group tour to Pompeii recently. When we arrived at the entrance, the ticket agents picked two people randomly from the tour provider’s roster and asked them to show their passports to verify that the tickets had been bought for the people actually on the tour. I hadn’t seen that happen before.
Can you please tell us what a "Global passport" is?
I am fairly certain that the Global Passport is their Global Entry Card.
And to the OP, you cannot use that as a form of ID. You would have to use your passport. Global Entry is only good in the U.S.
I have used my Global Entry card in the past for audio guide collateral and a few entrances. But some larger museums and Berlin’s Bundestag wanted to see my passport.
Since I always carry both in my money belt, no issue. It’s their museum, their choice; I don’t dispute it.
