We will be traveling in Italy in October and need to rent a car in Florence and return it in Pisa. We need the car for about 2 weeks. What are our options?

I would rent and drop the car off at the airports in Florence and Pisa. You don't want to rent or drive a car in Florence. There are extremely high tickets for driving in the ZTL zones of Florence. We rent from AutoEurope. Check their website for their fleet and prices. They often include a free GPS with their rentals which would be helpful driving through Tuscany. You could also check rental prices with EuropeByCar. If they quote you a lower price, AutoEurope will match or beat it. Call and negotiate with them.
Next, go to your AAA office and obtain an International Driver's License. I also take along good Michelin maps which you can purchase in the "Travel Store" on this website or at your local bookstore. Most of all, have fun driving in Italy.
