I inadvertently booked us into the annex instead of the hotel proper. I booked this through Chase Visa's Ultimate rewards and am not sure I can make a change. Can anyone tell me the difference between the Annex and the hotel proper? Will we be significantly disappointed? If so, I'll begin the process of trying to change these (supposedly non-refundable) reservations. urghhh!
Have you contacted the hotel to ask about the difference(s)?

The 'annex' rooms are listed under the "Rooms" menu as "Dependance"
Yes, I contacted the hotel but since these were booked thru a third party they can’t help me.
If you don't know the difference between the rooms, why do you presume the ones you booked are inferior? If you call the hotel and simply ask about the difference between the types of rooms, they should be able to answer you...you don't need to tell them you booked already through a third party. You can see the photos of all the rooms online although room sizes are not included, so it's hard to gauge.
They are sorted by category (classic, superior, deluxe). The "Dependence" rooms look fine to me.

The annex rooms receive poor reviews on TripAdvisor and other review sites. And, yes, I’ve been in contact with the Loggiato d’Eiffel Serviti and they are unable or unwilling to make any change outside the the third party [Chase Ultimate Rewards].
I’m asking if anyone has first-hand knowledge of the Annex rooms since it will likely prove challenging/difficult to get them changed.
I've seen a lot of positive reviews about the Dependance, which is basically an apartment (or maybe more than one) around the corner on Via De' Servi. Since the Dependance has various level of rooms (standard, deluxe, suite, etc.), I guess it depends on which one you get. Some people were really happy they got the Dependance room others were not.
I've never stayed in this specific hotel but generally these are the things about dependences:
They are apartments in a separate apartment building, therefore generally quieter than the main hotel (but that depends on the other guests too).
You will need separate keys for the dependence apartment, and for the main apartment building door, in addition to the hotel lobby door (if they close after a certain time at night).
I presume breakfast is in the main hotel, therefore you won't be able to go to breakfast in your slippers and pajamas (if that is what you like to do), because you need to walk outside about 50 yards in the street. So breakfast for you is probably when you are all ready to hit the road, not in between getting up and taking the shower.
If the hotel has a restaurant or bar, same rule. You need to get out of the hotel and walk back outside before reaching your room, which may be somewhat annoying if the weather is bad or if it's cold (are you traveling in winter?).
Roberto, thank you for that well-defined reply. We are traveling mid-April. I appreciate that you mentioned some people didn't mind the Annex at the Loggiato dei Serviti. Every review I read had a negative bent.
If you look up the hotel on TripAdvisor and type "Annex" or "Annex Building" in the "Show Reviews That Mention" field, you will see both positive and negative reviews. If you read between the lines, you'll know what to expect.
I shall look again. I obviously was not adept at searching, Agnes. I simply searched for Loggiato dei Serviti and got several screens into the search and never found a positive.
I would also put more weight on recent reviews if possible (2016-2017). I think everything will turn out fine for you. Hopefully, in the worst case, if you are really unhappy with the room, the hotel would oblige in switching you to another in the main building. I'm sure there are downsides to some rooms no matter where they are located. Good luck!
We stayed in the annex a couple of years ago and we actually preferred it. The rooms are huge! The breakfast room is smaller, but there also aren’t as many people as the main hotel at breakfast time. We have stayed at many Rick Steve’s hotels all over Europe and in that respect, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Thanks for all this good input. I'm feeling calmer. :-)
A last question before I call it a day on this topic...does anyone have the address to the annex? I'd like to look at it in Google Maos but can't find the address anywhere.
Per the hotel website, the Dependence is located at Via dei Servi 49. Select Rooms and then tap on the dropdown arrow to see the information on the website.
Frank, I cannot for the life of me find that info on the website. I have used the Rooms drop down menu and I'm able to click on Dependance and then can see two or three photos of the interiors but I still can't find that address ... so I'm very appreciative that you included the address in your posting.
Thanks to all who have help me feel a little better about the Dependance at Loggiato dei Serviti.
its the building with the green shutters opposite the street side cafe
thank you!!!
Across the main entrance to the Dependance building there is a coffee bar/pastry shop called Robiglio.
Robiglio is an institution in Firenze (they have two locations in town). You cannot stay there and not try their pastries. It would be like going to Tokyo and not try sushi. I wouldn't even bother with the hotel breakfast. I'd go there and buy me a cappuccino and a pastry (actually more tnan one) for a few euro.
I saw some positive reviews on the annex too. According to the measurements provided on booking.com, the room sizes are also bigger than in the main building (nice!) and don't appear to be as drowning in drapery. That would be a plus for me as all that fabric is bound to harbor dust. Achoo!
I do see comments about needing to unlock a series of three doors to get to this section of the building but according to a previous post, you're only going to be in Florence for 2 nights/1 full day? With that sort of limited time you'll be plenty busy taking in the sights so I'd guess you won't see much of the room at all except to sleep!
If you have time, stop into Basilica Della Santissima Annunziata on the piazza you're just steps away from? It has an unusually positioned cloister at the entrance with some lovely frescoes dabbled by some of Florence's most notable Renaissance painters and more of the same inside. You probably won't have time for the museum across the way at Brunelleschi's 15th-century Ospedale Degli Innocenti - one of the very first foundling homes in the world - but take a moment to admire Andrea Della Robbia’s famous tondi of sweet, swaddled bambini on the facade. The ospedale is an important piece of Renaissance architecture, and set the stage for the harmonizing facades of the church and the building which now houses the main hotel.
Robiglio right out your front door? How can you lose! :O)
Thank you, Kathy. We will check those out!
I’m blown away by the kind and helpful responses to this query and have decided to stay put in that annex. The irksome part is having paid a little more for the main hotel but I’m convinced this is a downfall of booking with my third-part purveyor...which I’ve now discovered is actually a fourth party*.
*Though I booked thru Chase Ultimate Rewards to use Chase miles, which is a very nice perk, the Loggiato shows my reservation came thru Expedia. This, I’m sure, is a downside of not booking direct thru the hotel.
Click on the link Joe included in the very first reply, then click on Rooms in list on left. Next click on down arrow in box at top right that says "Charming rooms and suites Florence center." The address is about halfway down the description of the Dependence.
Frank, I was going about it the wrong way. I was clicking on Rooms and then clicking on Dependance. Your way worked! Thank you.
